MPTS makes its return to London from 14 to 15 May, with some exciting new additions for 2025
Words by Oliver Webb
Returning to Olympia London, MPTS this year will be taking place over two levels within the Grand Hall. Relocating to the gallery level will allow visitors to utilise the show floor more for networking opportunities, ‘work from anywhere’ zones, as well as a new cafe. The Media Technology Conference, in partnership with SMPTE, will also take place upstairs for the second year running.
New for 2025 is the AI Media Zone, which is part of the new expansion of MPTS to the gallery level of the Grand Hall in Olympia, providing a dedicated theatre and exhibition area for attendees who are interested in staying ahead of the game. The AI Media Zone will focus on how AI is reshaping creative processes, production efficiencies and decision-making within film and TV, while also delving into the future policies needed to ensure responsible, ethical and sustainable integration of AI technologies. The sessions in the AI theatre will be full of insight and opinions, as well as interactive workshops covering pre-production, production, post and distribution. Topics will include how to develop an effective AI strategy, the impact of AI on post-production workflows, skills and training to ensure the workforce is ready for AI, generative AI and the art of storytelling, plus much more!
The Broadcast Sport Zone aims to bring production organisations, broadcasters, rightsholders and leading industry experts together to explore all aspects of sports content production, distribution and tech innovation. The zone includes exhibitors whose products and solutions are focused primarily on the sports broadcasting industry, training demos of the latest sports production gear and technology, networking opportunities with key sports industry exhibitors and visitors. It will also feature the Broadcast Sport Series, which will bring exclusive content to the MPTS seminar programme, with panels and sessions focused on sports broadcasting taking place in the main theatres throughout the show. Some of the topics will include remote production, content creation and monetisation, the impact of generative AI, utilisation of big data, live streaming and sustainability.
Following a record-breaking year in 2024, which brought together over 300 exhibitors and 12,000 attendees from 52 countries, the exhibition has experienced rapid growth since the show first launched in 2016. MPTS has firmly established itself as the must-attend event for professionals in the broadcast media, production and technology industry.
